Clandestine Encounters

Who hides behind this beautiful mask, this sensual look? What makes her an icon? When Guillaume Sbalchiero interviewed the star in 2013 for French weekly Les Inrocks, he was immediately mesmerized, wondering who this incandescent and uncatchable star was. It had 7 long conversations with the star between movie shootings, over the course of 3 years.

Monica’s career began with Francis Ford Coppola’s Dracula in 1992. Her first French film, L’Appartement (The Apartment), directed by Gilles Mimouni in 1996, for which she was nominated to the Césars, made her famous in the cinema world. Over the years, Monica appeared in blockbusters as well more intimate films, such as the scandalous Irréversible (Gaspard Noé, 2002, in competition at Cannes Film Festival), Matrix (Wachowski), Brothers Grimm (Terry Gilliam), The Passion of Christ (Mel Gibson). In 2017, Monica Bellucci costars with Emir Kusturica in his latest film, On the milky road. She stars in the third season of Amazon series Mozart in the jungle and served as the master of ceremonies for the 70th Cannes Film Festival.

This autobiography written under the form of dialogues offers a journey - emotional, intellectual - with a celebrated artist, a contemporary and free woman.
